Fun Museums for Kids in Switzerland

January 21, 2011

Here’s a reprint of an article I recently wrote for Mamizeit online newsletter, a publication for international moms in Switzerland.

Fun Family Spots to Take the Kids this Winter

Just because the weather outside is cold and wet or snowy, doesn’t mean that you have to stay cooped up at home. There are many wonderful places to take the kids for day trips in Switzerland. Keep these places in mind to go visit or to visit again during winter weekends or for the upcoming February break. Whether you’re looking to excavate, paint, bake, or experiment, these are great places to go to see with your children.

Sauriermuseum Aathal
Dinosaur fans should check out the Sauriermuseum in Aathal, the biggest dinosaur museum in Switzerland. Sauriermuseum is housed in a former textile factory and features over 200 exhibits with dinosaur artifacts from all over the world, including a special exhibit about dinosaurs native to Switzerland. Interesting fact: the museum displays dinosaur bones discovered at its very own excavation site in Wyoming, USA. The museum hosts workshops and birthday parties for children. As the museum slogan says, “It’s Bigger than You Think.”

Hands on demonstrations include a hand mill and a cycle mill. Kids even get to enjoy sliding on flour sacks down a spiral ramp at the end of the museum. An educational and fun experience for kids and adults alike. Every Friday, fresh bread sold at the museum. Guided tours offered, as well as children birthday parties.

Technorama, Winterthur
Young scientists will enjoy hours of discovery at Technorama. Explore mechanics, magnetism, electricity water, nature, toy trains and even magic at Switzerland’s only science center. Everything here is hands on and the learning opportunities are ample and fun! Kids can spend all day at this museum and still not discover all it has to offer. This is a comment to the admin. I discovered your Fun Museums for Kids in Switzerland | GRIN TRAVEL page by searching on Google but it was hard to find as you were not on the first page of search results. I know you could have more traffic to your site. I have found a website which offers to dramatically improve your website rankings and traffic to your site: I managed to get close to 500 visitors/day using their service, you can also get many more targeted visitors from search engines than you have now. Their services brought significantly more traffic to my site. I hope this helps!
